To reach your goals in teaching Native American students it is essential that professors find methods to raise students' self-esteem. Starting with several methods, including anticipating all of your students to succeed, putting an emphasis on strengths, creating a comfortable classroom, giving learners respect and always holding a relationship with the students, while also which includes Native American literature, fine art, culture, values and actions in the curriculum and making sure they maintain pride into their heritage. An important challenge that is certainly faced may be the historical effect of education that may be resulting in losing culture which is an opportunity to get racism to become introduced. Another problem confronted is that a result of peer pressure on tradition while these types of Native American children are within a setting wherever they are the fraction. With this peer pressure on their culture, there is also the racism factor that is nonetheless very real within society and children of Native American ancestry face this kind of everyday for their differences.
