Innovative Miking Techniques

Inside the audio recording market, microphone methods are a way pertaining to engineers and producers to become creative and innovative. A large number of engineers have their ”go-to” approaches that make them a creative pressure of their build. There are many " out of the box” miking techniques that are used in the recording sector. Recently I tried some " out of the box” techniques for stop drum that most engineers will consider peculiar or maybe even fascinatingly interesting. This included numerous tunneling type techniques using actual drums as the tunnel. Butch Vig, who also revolutionized the 90s music with his creation of Nirvana's Nevermind One of the miking tactics used on that record was the extreme line of bass drum covers without heads for the tunnel. (Sound on Sound, 1) He used a great AKG D12 about feet from the entrance drumhead and place a FET 47 by the end of the tunnel. (Gearslutz, 1) It is difficult to totally listen to this influence on the actual record because there are sample placed above the ambient drum sounds. I actually tried it with three bass drum shells with a Yamaha NS-10 sub stop and the FET 47 towards the end of the canal. It seemed like a " woofie” canon. Another technique which i saw used by Scotty Wilbacks was a proper drum baskeball hoop that involved 2 ft wide. It essentially attached with the drum and utilized to anxiety the drumhead. It looked like it was made from a hard plastic or fiber glass. This punch drum was obviously a classic fifties model Ludwig 14x22. We were holding pristine state and sounded incredible. All of us used a Shure Beta 52 about six inches wide the front head and then a Rhode NT2 at the end of the tunnel. Next we protected the whole thing with blankets. It is by far one among my favorites of out of the field techniques. 60 that I require one of those expanded drum hoops. The last conquer drum canal technique i used was a slight twist on the...
